Dabbling in Dotts and Stripes

Outfit #2

Striped Shirt: JCrew, Shoes: Urban Outfitters, Pearls: Nordstrom, Glasses: Mama's Closet Couture, Oversize Watch: NYC "Hustla"

This outfit is a bit of flair with a lot of fab. The Thick stripes counteract the smaller polka dots, making the combo less matchy-matchy. Add some pearls and thick rimmed glasses and your ready for a laid back evening with the man of the day... or a cozy game night. Just remember no outfit is complete without red nail polish and dimples.

Polka Dott Your i's And Cross Your t's

Outfit #1

Blouse: Vintage, Bag: Urban Outfitters, Shoes: TJ Max, Watch: NYC Hustler (or Hustla as he liked to call himself), bracelet: Nordstrom, Ring: My mama's closet

This is a fun and preppy approach for work. The polka dots replace the bland solid basics that most wear to work, and yet the navy color allows you to wear it to professional places. The collared blouse adds a "down to business" appeal, and the saddle bag and loafers complete the look. I jazzed it up with an over-sized watch and a large vintage pearl ring. And don't forget RED NAIL POLISH and DIMPLES (smile).

Frugally Fashionable

Have you ever seen an incredibly fabulous piece of clothing that you coveted but could not justify the price for that one item... or
Have you gone on a trip where you had to carry your own 2 and a half bags of luggage? (instead of having those handy dandy 24/7 bell hops also known as brothers carry it.)

Well if your answer rhymes with Jess (as in the great Fashion Forward Jessica Alba) to either of these questions then what you need is a way to create a number of stylish yet different outfits with 1 key piece.

I have made a rule that I can only buy an article of clothing if I have at least 3 different outfits I can make with my wardrobe at home.  Now rules are always meant to be broken and I do have few exceptions of timeless pieces that aren't as versatile... and love is love and you can't help who (or what) you fall for... especially when beloved article of clothing exudes 4 different color stripes.

But the point is especially in today's floundering economy, being thrifty with your clothes is just as important as being thrifty with those greenbacks. So in the name of fashion and frugality, I will highlight an article of clothing every week and show you the different ways you can wear those threads.

This week we have: This Polka dotted darling from Anthropologie...

Obviously, with the kind of lineage this dress has, there were some greenbacks involved. But it was on sale... and with all the different outfits I can make with this bad boy it will be worth the thinner wallet.
